Brad S. Brad S. Los Angeles, CA 5.0 star rating 3/17/2014 This place is by far my favorite go-to spot in LA. I'm almost hesitant to review it because I don't want it to get popular and loose all it's local charm, so if you're reading this...be cool. There are so many things I love about H & E. The cozy (read: small) intimate atmosphere attracts a humble and friendly local crowd. You will make friends here every time, if you want to, and the bartenders are the best. The live music venue in the second room is always rocking out with some awesome local band or DJ and the diversity in music keeps it different every time. When there is a band playing it can get loud but never so loud you're screaming, like a lot of places. The bar staff and the owners are without a doubt the best part of this operation (besides the photo booth and the abundance of PBR). I've never felt more welcome. It's basically like drinking with friends who run a bar. So chill. Last Thursday night I randomly stopped by for a beer and a chat with an old friend and ended up dancing and singing and drinking with other regulars, whom I had just met that night, and all because of the magical charms of the bartender Sierra who rocked the best Throwback Thursday mix ever...so great that by the end of then night the entire bar was dancing, and we closed it down. Like I said, I was just going to have one drink and instead stayed 3 hours. Best night ever...and truly because of Sierra (spunky blonde chica) and the overall style of the bar....local, laid back, free spirited. This place is like a dive that never dove. Fan 4 life.
